BLO Adhikar Mancha in West Bengal for SIR

BLO Adhikar Mancha, the another face of Trinamool Congress

The BLO Adhikar Mancha or BLO Rights Forum are supposedly aiming at safeguarding the interest and security of Booth Level Officers (BLO). Bengalis are highly conscious about their rights and dues, by inheritance.

The rebellion Bengali has always raised voices against the authorities notwithstanding the radical changes in socio-economic conditions of the world. Moreover, such forums in West Bengal turn to the political platforms either from inception or at a later stage.

This is reminiscent with Singur Jomi Rokkha Committee, which ultimately served as the stepping stone for the political rise of Mamata Banerjee. She cleverly brought the agitation into the epicenter, Kolkata for create better public resonance and earn media coverage.

Similarly, there are widespread allegations that Maoists ignited the Nandigram episode. So, we will find that the political parties work in the disguise of BLO Adhikar Mancha. Swapan Mondal, the General Secretary of BLO Adhikar Mancha, has been vocal during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Diktat of Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee

It is alleged that the forum works mainly under the guideline of the ruling Trinamool Congress. In other words, BLO Adhikar Mancha amplifies the directive of revolt against SIR of Mamata Banerjee. We are worried about the Booth Level Officers’ situation, particularly after the chief minister’s clear warning that they are state government workers who must fall in line.

Also, reports reveal that the election commission has taken legal actions against some Booth Level Officers in Bihar due to gross anomalies. Even West Bengal has already encountered such punitive action against a couple of officers. They are having to work under severe, clamp-like pressure.

Besides, there are dead voters and illegal immigrants. Duplicate voters have become a high-level concern.

TV 9 Bangla reports that the name of one-woman voter is enlisted in 44 places.

There area allegations that the Booth Level Agents (BLA) of the ruling party are hindering their jobs also. Some BLOs might have fallen sick under this intense pressure. There has been reports of unfortunate deaths of a couple of BLOs.

Government’s Concerns for BLO Adhikar Mancha

Now the question remains, whether Mamata Banerjee or the West Bengal Government is really benevolent to them. On the contrary, the panic-stricken Mamata Banerjee may take any crude way to stop the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The accurate implementation of SIR may make a cold wave run down the spine. The reliable reports reveal a large number of exclusions at this stage only. Let’s have a couple of contradictory questions which may nakedly publish the true intent of the rulers.

  • Why the State Government has not released the funds to the Election Commission for payment of the remuneration of these Booth Level Officers? They deserve the remuneration and EC has sent repeated reminders.
  • Why the state didn’t send the post mortem and other reports of the deceased officers to the Election Commission, so that they receive the compensation? Is the state Government reluctant about their compensation?
  • Why the Government didn’t grant theme leave during their deputation period? After all, they all are on deputation in Election Commission.

Is all going well?

Such BLO Adhikar Mancha has called for a rally on 24/11/2025. Any call from the rulers can gather a crowd of lakhs within hours. Still, there are reports that the local leaders have started issuing threats to the BLOs, for attending the meeting.

Even there are instructions to preserve group photos as evidence. We fail to understand, why the Trinamool Congress becomes suspicious about their own party cadres? Is all not going well?

Bengalis have revolution and politics in their blood. Whether they admit it openly or not, they generally start following politics from school level. It is also true that their sharp intellect creates a natural political awareness.

Mamata Banerjee is an extremely intelligent politician. She has come to power through many movements. Mamata Banerjee can easily turn any adverse incident to her advantage. She perhaps the best among the contemporary politicians of India, who can read the pulse of the mass.

Perhaps she understood from the beginning what consequences the SIR might bring. So she started resisting it early on. Even now, she may be receiving confidential reports that everything is not going in her favor.

But even then, paralyzing the city like this on the first working day of the week is not justified.

Latest Addition on BLO Adhikar Mancha

The live reports show that there were a host of non-BLO in the rally. When they reached the office of the Election Commission they were greeted with expostulation from the police. They came outside the office and they staged a sit-in protest just outside the room of the Chief Election Commissioner. That was the end of the drama
