AI Becomes the New Scapegoat for Human Mistakes

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a very powerful yet almost unquestioned tool. It can collect information, collate and present within minutes also. In Addition, the deeper someone goes, the more data it provides. It can translate from one language to another instantly. Then it even asks whether you want SEO-friendly content or journalistic writing. It delivers accordingly. If someone wants to convert even from active voice to passive voice or vice versa, AI does that too.

However, Artificial intelligence cannot always work perfectly. It also makes mistakes sometimes. Of course, it is still in its infancy. As it grows, it will surely become flawless. Moreover, In image generation and manipulation, AI is advancing at a tremendous speed.

What’s More, With its creative power, it can easily place a lion’s head on a human body. Earlier, people had to struggle for hours in a photo editor to do that. Now AI does it effortlessly. Still, its speed is unbelievable.

Besides, Scientists say Artificial intelligence will drastically slash down the need for a human workforce in the future. Hence, let us set aside this age-old conflict between humans and machines for now. Instead, let’s discuss AI in a lighter tone.

Artificial Intelligence Is Taking the Blame Everywhere

Let’s start with politicians. Politicians often make statements and later deny them. Though, Television has forced them to be slightly more careful. So, Now their excuses are different. They say, “I received incorrect information.” Or, “I didn’t mean it that way.” Or, “My words were misinterpreted.” Some high-ranking leaders used to say, “There was an intelligence failure.” In short, they always have a justification. Additionally, Politicians have always had the reputation of speaking half-truths and half-lies. Thus, after the arrival of Artificial intelligence, their advantage has multiplied. As a result, if they spread misinformation and get caught, they immediately say, “I got it from AI.”

This is not the only case. The AI has spread its far-reaching tentacles in every sphere of the society. A student in the eighth grade might write an excellent essay. When the teacher asks, the student says, “I wrote it using AI.” If an author writes something, and it gets caught in a copyright trap, ten years later, people blame the Artificial intelligence. If someone copy-pastes research when submitting it, they can easily blame the AI. Reportedly, a lawyer submitted documents in court that cited some unusual cases. Those cases never happened. Under pressure from the judge, the lawyer plainly stated, “The AI did it.” Poor AI.

It just sits there like Neelkantha (the blue-throated deity). Artificial Intelligence hasn’t learned to protest yet. It moves forward, unaware of how many people are incorrectly blaming it. AI is just like Neelkantha.

The Election Commission of India will apply the Artificial Intelligence in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) also.

The Rise of Excuses in Its Name

Now, Let us raise a serious issue. In the near past, a phone conversation between the Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor and the Head of the English Department leaked outside. Consequently, the Vice-Chancellor immediately claimed that AI distorted the audio. As, he was speaking to a departmental head, and the topic was the Registrar’s appointment, an extremely sensitive matter. Moreover, even the education minister was involved, and indirectly the Chief Minister too.

This happened at the prestigious Jadavpur University, still a source of immense pride for a declining jinx-ridden Bengali society. Its NIRF ranking is also impressive. Its alumni shine across the world in many reputed organizations. Still, it remains a dream education hub for many Bengali students.

Despite this, should the police not investigate the matter? Or will they simply ban the leaked audio and call it a day? In contrast, if they dig deeper, the truth may expose far bigger issues, the “worm” could turn out to be a “snake.”

Because the discussion began lightly, it deserves to end in a lighter tone as well. Equally, Artificial Intelligence can detect and verify AI-doctored audio and video. In addition, If we test the leaked audio, whose head will roll? Or will AI become the scapegoat again?

Even if someone gets exposed, they can still say, “I didn’t do anything, AI supplied the data.”
