Today, the world is flooded with information. The boom of social media has blessed us with bounty of information and that too instantly. We have been really annihilating the geographical boundaries today with the help of technology Marvels. The new launch of a car in London or the performance of the latest version of iPhone in Washington takes virtually no time to reach the furthest corner of Sri Lanka. Google, empowered by Artificial Intelligence, boasts of bountiful of information and suggestions within the flicker of the eyelids.
Yet, the plethora of misinformation and disinformation also coexist. We need to filter them out carefully. We can often hear a lot of frauds are dominating the internet world. Their aim may be to hack the websites or even they may try to peek in to your bank account. But we should treat these perpetrations as professional hazard, but we must remain alert and apply the required prevention. At least, at Knowledge Mart, we treat them as unwanted hazardous interferences.
However, mere collection and consolidation of information can hardly lead to knowledge. Like, we can enjoy the luxury of an AC just by pressing a button, but we really don’t know, its history of evolution or even the actual functioning of the AC. Whenever there is any problem, we just pick up the phone and call the mechanic. The key point is that we don’t have the desire to acquire knowledge. We certainly show that inclination to gain adequate knowledge about our work. It’s not that, we can’t, but the fact of life remains, we don’t.
