Gala Marriage Reception of Mahua Moitra, TMC MP, at Karimpur

The extravagant marriage reception of Mahua Moitra at the remote Karimpur implied that the ruler is faultless. Indeed, the ever-cherished slogan that Bosses are never faulty is echoed through this gorgeous celebration. In fact, she married Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pinaki Misra almost six months back. Above all, the marriage reception celebration took places in Karimpur Regulated Market Ground on 8th November, 2025. The ground authorities have declined to grant permission for kirtan, Baul fair, etc., but didn’t hesitate to permit such a marriage event.  Nevertheless, Mahua Moitra absolved the king of any wrongdoing like her leader Mamata Banerjee. In addition, One should not forget that Mahua Moitra is a TMC leader.

Inf act, the couple had tied the knot in Germany and the marriage remains absolutely her personal freedom. But such an extravaganza in a poor Karimpur has certainly erupted political slugfest. Notably, around 70% people of that locality earn a mere @Rs.5,000 – 6,000 per month. In contrast, there had been around 6/7 thousands of invitees. Being a TMC leader, her preferred leaders and a couple of MPs from New Delhi got the enlistment. Above all, such a spectacular marriage reception completely disturbed and obstructed the locales.

Furthermore, the main Bus routes for connecting to Baharampur and Krishnanagar had to face diversion. Following this, even the Toto (e-rickshaws) and bikes had to follow the embargo  in that route after 6PM.

Mahua Moitra and Karimpur

There was a spread of multi-cuisines in the marriage reception of Mahua Moitra like most other TMC top shots. In addition, the cost of such a wide variety of high-end and luxurious dishes was highly exorbitant. Moreover, Mahua Moitra brough the caterers from Delhi, just like the make-up artists. Besides, there had been a deputation of adequate police forces of around 300 post holders including top notch officers. The Security strictly restrained the entry. Even the guests had to show their cards for the entrance. They had almost prohibited the photographers. Notably, Mahua Moitra had won assembly election on behalf of TMC from Karimpur, before her MP membership.

Enough political rows erupted because of her lavish lifestyles. Subsequently, she faced an expulsion from the Lok Sabha on Friday over cash-for-query allegations. So, she remains controversial despite her firebrand image within and outside her own party, TMC.

Conversely, is it morally justifiable to flaunt such opulence in a poverty-stricken village? Of course, in today’s publicity-driven world, who wants to remember ethics anymore? The one who controls money and power virtually holds the entire world captive. Also, Mahua Moitra lacks neither of these. However, The people highly desire a public representative to attempt to maintain some degree of balance.

The impoverished inhabitants of Karimpur were witnesses to an unimaginable scene of opulence for just one day. However, the stark reality, is that after all those mesmerizing, dream-like sights, they would have to return to their homes and dine only on their dry, cold fermented rice or hard, plain flatbread.
