Latest update on Panic in Bengal SIR

Panic in Bengal SIR spreads across

The Election Commission has already gone ahead with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal, despite threats from TMC. When the process has rolled out, hopefully, it will be completed in its own way, slowly but inevitably. But the Panic in Bengal SIR has unfolded.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Process has already raised some panic among the commoners. There are reports of a couple of suicides (though the causes are not beyond dispute) and the sudden disappearance of domestic workers overnight without any prior notice. So, it indicates that the Panic in Bengal SIR has spread like wild fire. The Bengalis are panic-stricken for treading in unknown sojourn, by their inherent nature.

Why Panic in Bengal SIR?

On top of it, Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee have been constantly heating up the environment. Mamata Banerjee’s comment like “BJP’s venomous propaganda” or Abhishek Banerjee’s advice to tie up the BLOs have fueled the situation. One of the trade union leader has gone even one step ahead by advising to horrify the women of the houses. Such attitudes are good enough to raise Panic in Bengal SIR.

On the other hand, Suvendu Adhikari’s constant provocation to detect, delete and deport has worsens the situation further. The BJP leaders are claiming a self-imagined, arbitrary number of exclusions, without any statistical support.

The menaces of TMC Leaders coupled with astronomical figures of the BJP office bearers have further aggravated the situation. Such contrasts often raise rumor and unnecessary Panic in Bengal SIR.

Such unnecessary  exaggeration has confused the rural and uneducated mass. They are completely unaware about the proceedings. Rather, they have started believing in hearsay and rumors.

EC & Political parties are responsible for the Panic in Bengal SIR

Indeed, the lists published by the Election Commission are not flawless as per news flashes in Television channels and social media. Its time for the election commission to speak up in regular interval and reassure the public time and again. Instead, they have gone to the silence mood. When the constitutional functionaries fail to extinguish their duties, the ruthless cruel face of politics becomes starkly visible.

There is no use of believing that Abhishek Banerjee or Suvendu Adhikary is not aware of the rules. They possess qualifications and they are veteran politicians. So, all the rules and regulations should be at their fingertips.  Abhishek had known much earlier that Special Intensive Revision would take place in West Bengal also, as it’s a part of India.

We can’t resist from raising the question to Suvendu Adhikary:

  1. Does the Election Commission have any constitutional authority to deport anyone?
  2. Can they examine the citizenship?
  3. Didn’t Suvendu personally face the 2002 revision?

Booth Level Officers starting  door-to-door visit

Amid such a tense atmosphere, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits from tomorrow (November 04, 2025).  They are to carry out several crucial tasks as mandated by the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) guidelines. The Booth Level agents (BLA) will accompany them. Perhaps Trinamool is the only party that will appoint BLAs for all the booths. BJP has recruited 50000 Booth Level Agents, as per reports in The Indian Express.

We should not forget that these BLOs are our neighbors or our relatives and they stay with their families in West Bengal only. The direct or indirect intimidation to them from both the arch-rivals have scared them. It’s still unknown whether the Election Commission will deploy central forces for their security, still that can not save them in the long run.

Our earnest appeal to Abhishek Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikary to please stop fueling such terrified situation. We all want that any genuine citizen’s name should not be excluded and non-citizens should not be enlisted. At the end of the day, we all want a neat and clean voter list, who will ultimately decide the fates of our representatives.

The democracy has ever refused to genuflect to the politics of fear
