Amader Para Amader Somadhan Ahead of 2026 Elections
West Bengal Chief Minister launched a special program Amader Para Amader Somadhan (APAS) in the month of August 2025. The objective is to reach immediate governance by empowering citizens to identify and prioritize their neighborhood-level infrastructure needs. The program allocates a specific fund of ₹10 lakh per polling booth, totaling ₹8,000 crore. The declared objective is the rapid solution of the small, local issues. The issues like faulty water pumps, broken roads, or non-functional streetlights come under the bracket. Mamata Banerjee is in desperate attempt to orchestrate a new program to mobilize the grassroot level workers.

Amader Para Amader Somadhan: off-budget expenditure
People should seldom raise the question, why to launch again another program on the eve of Assembly election 2026. In contrast, the Government failed to fulfil the interim verdict of the Supreme Court to disburse 10,000 crores as the first instalment of the pending DA. While there is a provision for DA in the budget; the Amader Para Amader Somadhan (APAS) is a completely off-budget expenditure. Mamata Banerjee might want to intensify the party cadres with such programs in West Bengal
The total loan on the state has crossed Rs 8 lakh crore in 2025-26 budget, which had been Rs 1.92 lakh crore in 2010-11, when TMC under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee stormed into the power. The steep increase is vividly clear. Nobody in West Bengal also can ever dare question, when Duare Sarkar and Paray Samadhan are already in vogue, why another new program. This indirectly points finger at the efficacy of the normal and regular services, which comes under the jurisdiction of normal Government department functionalities.
The oppositions also allege that the programs like Duare Sarkar or Didike Bolo or Paray Samadhan program earned a triumphant success for the TMC in the 2021 assembly elections; even after a dismal performance in the 2019 General election.
Programs for governance strategies
Abhishek Banerjee with the consent of Mamata Banerjee brought I-PAC to energize the momentum in the upcoming elections. I-PAC is one of the India’s Biggest Political Consultancy form, who strategies election campaigns. Though Prashant Kishore is no more associated, but the I-PAC Consultancy is still there to turn the odds to the favorable situation for the TMC. So, we may not find the orchestration of the same Bangla Banglar Meyeke Chay. But we will surely find some derivatives, which will result substantial yield. Now, virtually, the executives of I-PAC take the control of the various meetings and even grassroot level coordination.
The oppositions may throw versions highlighting several points of criticism and skepticism regarding its effectiveness and intentions, the TMC. Critics say that it’s the indirect way for funding and gearing up the local level functionaries. Notably almost every program and execution is vitiated by financial fraudulent activities. However, Mamata Banerjee has extended the Amader Para Amader Somadhan (APAS) program even beyond November 6 n the flood-affected areas. It is in desperation to further solidifying the perception of her people-centric approach.
As the 2026 elections approach, the key question remains: Can targeted welfare programs and visible governance strategies help the TMC regain momentum and counter opposition narratives?
