Inspired by the poll results of West Bengal and the pre-poll surveys, Mamata Banerjee had called for a change in Tripura also. Notably, CPM has been ruling the state for continuous 21 years and the internal clashes between the Congress leaders have become vivid. It might happen that the support of Anna Hazzare has made Mamata Banerjee enthusiastic to look forward to the national presence for her party Trinamul Congress, though they have not been able to cut any ice in Tripura, as yet. Mamata Banerjee, in her usual tone has slammed on the Congress government at the center. Though it was the campaign for the General Election 2014, Mamata did not forget to mention that the dramatic change in the Government in the next assembly election remains her target. Though the meeting had been overcrowded, but the political observers doubt whether it will be converted to tangible votes that can bring two more seats for Mamata Banerjee or her dream Federal...

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, is going to shuffle the state cabinet on the Boxing Day. Such shuffle has become pertinent, as Mamata Banerjee had taken an account of progress of all departments just a week ago. The elimination of some heavy weight ministers and inclusion of some new faces is also expected, besides the change of portfolio. It is reported that she can bring about changes in about 20 departments. While keeping the General election in mind, some ministers may be transferred to strengthen the party organization in different districts. It should be also noted that the ministers, who have failed to discharge their duties according to the expected level may find an axe. The swearing in ceremony is scheduled today...

Bimal Gurung is coming back as the GTA Chief Executive in the swearing in ceremony at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata on 26th December, 2014. That signals the end of the untoward tussles in the apparently synchronized relationship between the two parties, TMC and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha. It is important to preserve the valuable relationship between the two parties for smooth functioning of GTA, which has been the prime commitment of both the parties. The seemingly successful implementation of GTA on amicable basis had been stained when a fractured segment had raised slogan for separate Gorkhaland in a meeting of Mamata Banerjee at Darjeeling hills. The rough and tough Mamata Banerjee threatened to take stern measures against such attitudes. The commotion started thereafter. Incidentally, the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was approved by the Central Government, which inspired the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha to accelerate the momentum of the demand of a separate state Gorkhaland. An indefinite strike paralyzed the life of the hills. A lot of supporters and leaders of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha had been arrested and even the Government has been alleged to dig out the old cases to send the GTA leaders behind the bars. Bimal Gurung resigned from his chair to step up overriding pressure on the TMC-led state Government. The two leaders, Mamata Banerjee and Bimal Gurung have been refraining from meeting each other for a harmonious solution since January. It is reported that Bimal Gurung had a one-to-one meeting with Mamata Banerjee yesterday for a sustainable time frame. Gurung claims that he is committed to assume the office as GTA chief on request of Mamata Banerjee. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha supremo has also discussed about the bail of the leaders and supporters, who have been taken to the custody during the indefinite strike at Darjeeling. If Bimal Gurung takes oath as the Chief Executive of hill council, the tensions will cease to exist, at least on a temporary basis. The political observers feel that the emerging situation due to the poll debacle of Congress in state level election has played a pivotal role in the current context. It must be recalled that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha failed to get responses from the central government even after separate visits to Delhi. Even BJP did not directly support them in public. It is indeed true that the State Government did not succumb to the paramount pressure, exerted by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha. The TMC party had initiated political activities and Gurung has sircustically noticed a lot of their supporters...

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has conducted a review meeting regarding progress of various departments. While the ministers like Subrata Mukherjee, Malay Ghatak, Becharam Manna, Jyotipriyo Mallick have received appreciation of the Chief Minister, some ministers have been criticized for non-performances. It must be noted that the performance of Industrial minister has come under the microscopic lenses of Mamata Banerjee and she has raised her concerns. She has notably mentioned that the revenue has been increased by 32%.She has also quoted the loan burdens of the previous government, as usual. It is indeed necessary to take account of the performances of each department, but the common citizens are more interested in looking forward to the development, which is still...
