Indian cricketers lift U-19 Asia Cup

Vijay Zol the Indian captain for the U-19 team scored a century off 120 balls to defeat Pakistan and lift the Asia Cup. Sanju Samson also scored 100 runs off merely 87 deliveries as India etched a 40-run win in Sharjah. India reached a total of 314 for eight in their allotted 50 overs. Pakistan in their fixed overs could manage only 274 for the loss of nine wickets which included a 100 from Kamran Ghulam. India got off to a flying start scoring 65 runs in 6.4 overs itself. The Zol – Samson partnership won it for India in the end. Pakistani skipper Aslam and Kamran Ghulam were the only ones who put up a fight scoring 93 runs together to raise the Pakistani...

Yuvraj is dropped

Yuvraj singh, the stunning all-rounder, failed to secure his berth in the New Zealand ODI squad. The newbie like Ishwar Pandey or Stuart Binny has been included in the Indian side that is destined for the New Zealand tour in near future. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have been given further chances despite their dismal performances in South Africa. Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma have been also retained. The ODI squad will surely watch the dominance of pacers as New Zealand is expected to offer green top wickets to Indian cricket team. Ojha failed to earn the favoritism of the selectors. An apparently balanced squad with clear emphasize on pace bowlers are ready to take on the challenges of the New Zealand team, which could never match up to the expectation level in South African...

Humiliating defeat for India

South Africa has thrashed India by an authoritative 10-wicket margin to register a triumphant victory in the second test at Durban on Monday. The winning farewell of Jacques Kallis could never find a better climax. He has scored an excellent century in his last test innings and his team has also won in the match. South Africa could also steer to a 1-0 victory in the test series against India. The first one had gone to the rope, but ended in a draw. The world famous batting line up of India could hardly meet the expectations and they faltered at 223 in their second innings. South Africans could play the winning stroke on the twelfth over. Dale Steyn has been awarded as Man of the Match, while AB de Villiers has become the Man of the Series. India has reiterated its dismal performances in the away...

South Africa dab India at Durban

South Africa was at the top at the end of the fourth day of the second and the deciding cricket test match at Durban. Buoyed by Jaques Kallis’ farewell Test century and a classy six wicket haul from ferocious pacer Dale Steyn, South Africa took a handy 166 run lead in their first essay. For India, the only positive was Ravindra Jadeja who snared six wickets. But the disappointment came as pace spearhead Zaheer Khan leaked precious runs only taking two wickets towards the end. Ishant Sharma and Shami Ahmed too failed miserably. It remains to be seen how India bats on a dry Durban wicket in the morning session of the last day of their tour. Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel would be striving to bowl out India in the rain curtailed match as soon as possible. Considering India’s tendency to collapse like nine pins, it would be a formidable effort for India to save the Test. With only eight wickets intact including in form Virat Kohli and consistent Chetweswar Pujara will be looking to play out the entire day rather than scoring more runs. India still trail South Africa by a margin of 98 runs. The first Test at Wanderers granted us a thrilling finish. The fifth day of this second Test is likely to repeat the same. Will the Steyns and the Morkels assure Grame Smith a Test victory? Or can the Indians turn the tables by denying them of what will be a fascinating win at the Durban after a string of consecutive losses? Only time can...

Indian cricketers face a flip flop

Fate intervened in the form of a rain on the second day of the second cricket Test match in Durban against South Africa. Earlier play had been stopped due to bad light on the first day itself when the Indian batsmen were cruising along. The rain stop changed the fortunes of the game with the Indian batsmen playing a heavy price as Dale Steyn took full advantage of the nature endowed conditions. The ball that eclipsed the wicket of Rohit Sharma can be best labeled unplayable. The entire Indian innings was rocked by Steyn deliveries in such a way that it never recovered from the blows. Vijay also became his victim and missed his century by a whisker of three runs. Pujara, Kohli and Rahane contributed to the Indian total of 334 that is neither sufficient nor competitive. All in all it will make for a very interesting third day in Kingsmead between India and South Africa with cricket coming out...
