Devyani Khobragade in Mumbai

Devyani Khobragade has finally come down to Mumbai to stay a couple of days with her parents. This former US diplomat had been involved in most controversial VISA fraud case. She had been taken to the police custody and was forced to stay with drug peddlers and others. India had shown a strong resilience against such treatment with their diplomat and stopped a lot of facilities for the US diplomats in India. Finally she had been sent back to India leaving her husband and two kids. India has also issued a marching order against one US diplomat. Surprisingly, some silly comments against India have been published by the diplomat and his wife in the social media. Battered by such unprecedented reaction from India, US has clearly declined to accept the responsibilities of such statements. The tit for tat policy seems to remain...

India sends US diplomat home

India asks an US diplomat, an officer of a rank similar to that of Devyani Khobragade, to leave from their Delhi Embassy. Government sources revealed that India believes this officer was involved in processes relating to the delicate Khobragade case that has frozen relations between US and India. Khobragade was granted full diplomatic immunity on January 8 under the India-US headquarters agreement. The US had on January 9 requested India to waive her diplomatic immunity but it was rejected and subsequently the Indian diplomat was asked to leave the US where her daughters still reside. The charges against 39-year-old Khobragade will remain and she will have to face trial, if she returns to the US without diplomatic immunity. Her husband is however an US...

Khobragade returns to India.

Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade affirmed that the charges against her in a US court are false and baseless. She is sure that her stand with the full support of the Indian government in the case will be vindicated. The 39-year-old diplomat’s children are still in the United States. The formal position of the US is that the charges would stay till she ceases to have immunity. Yesterday Khobragade indicted by a US grand jury for visa fraud and allegedly making false statements that charged her as she headed back to India after being accorded full diplomatic immunity. In the future she would need a G-1 visa to enter the US without fear of legal action. This will be a considerable hurdle for her and her family. She would have to face trial upon coming back to the US without diplomatic immunity added US Attorney Preet...

India step up restrictions against US envoys

After bulldozing the barricades and opening up the road in front of the American Embassy in New Delhi after a gap of 12 years the Union Government has asked Delhi police to stop discriminating action against the US embassy cars violating traffic rules. Illegal parking would result in towing away of vehicles of US envoys as India continues to pull off the grants and privileges provided to them in order to pressurize them to accept its terms set for the Khobragade case. The US embassy in New Delhi has been asked to stop all of its commercial activities at the American Support Community Association club by January 16, 2014. Devyani faces indictment proceedings on January 13 as Manhattan attorney Bhanara let it be known that felony charges against her would either be dropped or brought down if she pleads guilty which is totally unacceptable to...

Pak stands by India on Devyani Khobragade issue

In a dramatic development Pakistan has stood by India on the most controversial Devyani Khobragade issue, which can be termed as a revolution in bilateral relationship. Salman Bashir, the Pakistan High Commissioner, has clearly said that the respect to the diplomats as per the Vienna Convention has been denied in Devyani Khobragade case. Incidentally, Devyani Khobragade, the diplomat in USA had to face arrest and strip search in a case of VISA fraudulence, as alleged by the US counterfronts. India has taken a strong stance and transferred her to the UN Mission overnight to safeguard the Indian diplomat with full immunity. The former Pakistan Foreign Secretary, Shaharyar M Khan, also criticized the US efforts in the case of Devyani Khobragade. It is reported that US has already bent down slightly due to unprecedented stunning action o the Indian government, it is good to have Pakistan, which had remained seemingly absurd even a couple of months...
