Voting trend for Lok Sabha polls 2014 on April 30

Telangana registered 72 % voting, Gujarat 62 % until 6 pm today for the 26 LS seats, Srinagar 25.6%, Uttar Pradesh 57.1% for 14 LS seats, West Bengal 81.35%, Punjab 73% and Bihar 60% by the end of voting scheduled on April 30, 2014. Famous personalities like Governor B L Joshi, Mayawati, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Rajnath Singh and Kalraj Mishra exercised their franchise in different booths in UP today. Amit Shah a key aide of Narendra Modi today said that people were seeing a ray of hope in the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate. He declared so during an address to the media after casting his vote.

On the other hand the EC has decided to take action against Modi for flashing BJP symbol deliberately giving off an indication to vote for BJP while being photographed after casting his vote in Ahmedabad today. Action will be taken against Modi under section 126 (1B) of the Representation of People’s Act. The EC has asked authorities in Gujarat to take necessary steps against Modi. BSP chief Mayawati also reiterated that people will vote for change and that the Modi wave has been generated by the media.

One of the key personalities behind the escalation of Modi today is Arun Jaitley who is also among the most powerful of men holding the reins of BJP in the Modi era. Jaitley is looking forward to his Lok Sabha debut as Amritsar went to polls and he is contesting his maiden elections from the seat against Captain Amarinder Singh. Jaitley also appealed to the people to come out and vote.
