Mesothelioma in twenties and thirties

History does not find any evidence of Mesothelioma in the primitive ages. May be the people had been treating the casualty of Mesothelioma as a curse of God. As the modern research and technology have established Asbestos to be the main cause of Mesothelioma, we will try to trace back to the diseases caused by Asbestos.

If we want to delve into the history of Asbestos, we have to go back to the Nineteenth century, when the production of Asbestos had started.

In the early stage of Twentieth century, Auribault traced the first asbestos caused lung disease. US department of Labor bulletin had urged the need of extensive investigation for the asbestos caused diseases. The Twenties has witnessed Asbestos diseases in UK. A lot of articles and journals were published in twenties.

A medical study had been conducted among the textile workers in 1930, where 26% had been found to be affected by the asbestos. Perhaps Thirties had been the most eventful decade in studying Asbestos and its effects.

The US case report, Need of more modern protective device in milling and manufacturing units, surveys etc. had started taking places in a row in the decade of thirties. Lynch & Smith traced the first lung cancer due to asbestos in 1935. The figure 26% of Asbestos victims of 1930 had been increased to 34% in next six years.

Finally the end of thirties could inculcate the usage of additional protection equipments to factories and manufacturing units, which used asbestos in any form. But the significant development had been marked in case of literacy and awareness, where the growth was almost 600%.
